This post features the amazing makeup and technical effects that went into creating the illusion of Carl’s eye wound…an incredibly realistic dummy was created in Chandler Rigg’s likeness, complete with eye wound, was used in certain scenes, like Rick running and carrying his wounded, unconscious son through the walker horde. An image of the eye wound was also digitally superimposed onto Chandler Rigg’s face in the final edits of the scene where Carl looks up Rick, immediately after getting shot by Ron.
